On the first anniversary of its acquisition of Ansys, Synopsys demos autonomous design verification agents for EDA and CAE (computer aided engineering) design.
The agents have been developed with Nvidia, using its Nemotron open models for building agentic AI and secured with Nvidia’s OpenShell runtime. Workflows use context intelligence and initally are available for Ansys’ CFD (computer flow dynamics) CAE models, targetting thermal management and device cooling with autonomous set-up and pre-processing.
Synopsys explains the automation executes simulation, set-up, pre- and post-processing “in a fraction of the time required for traditional approaches”.
Demonstrating the workflows at DAC in Long Beach, the company also said “agentic execution achieves up to 50X faster time-to-validated RTL with an additional 20% improvement in coverage”.
Powered by Synopsys AgentEngineer and Nvidia’s Agent Toolkit, Nemotron 3 Ultra open model and OpenShell runtime, the orchestraor agent deconstructs design verification goals from specification, design, test repository and user inputs. It orchestrates specialised agents and tools in a closed loop workflow across the design cycle, from specification and manages specialised agents and tools in a closed loop workflow across the full verification cycle to reduce verification time from weeks to hours.
The autonomous agentic CAE workflow for electronics thermal analysis uses Nvidia Agent Toolkit and Cuda-X libraries. It is built with Ansys Icepak electronics cooling simulation software and open source PyAEDT libraries.
Models based on Anysys’ electromagnetics and mechanical CAE models, together with EDA workflows (design verification, implementation, signoff, test, analogue and multi-die) will follow later this year, says Synopsys.
The company also announced autonomous workflows based on AgentEngineer agentic AI technology are available for evaluation on Microsoft Discovery.
Synopsys has also announced the certification of AI-powered EDA flows on Intel 14A.
